SuperDARN (Super Dual Auroral Radar Network)

The International Super Dual Auroral Radar Network has been developed in the last 10 years for the study of the high latitude ionosphere in the framework of solar-terrestrial relations and investigation of the near earth environment. SuperDARN consists of 2 longitudinal chains, in the northern and southern hemispheres, comprising respectively 9 and 6 HF coherent radars. The coverage in the southern hemisphere will be completed by the installation in DomeC of two radars, covering the auroral regions

COCHISE (Cosmological Observations at Concordia with High-sensivity Instrument for Source Extraction)

The Antarctic plateau is considered the best site for astronomical observations in submillimetric and millimetric wavelenght range.

The Cochise team already performed 3 observing campaign at DomeC with the aim of measuring the atmospheric stability and the main results show that here the conditions are excellent for millimetric observations.

IRAIT (International Robotic Antartcic Infrared Telescope)

The International Robotic Antartcic Infrared telescope is a reflector optimized for infrared wavelenghts. It will be partly installed next year and during 2008_09 campaign it will start the observation.

In the meantime a preparing experiment (mini IRAIT) is carried out at Dome C for monitoring the sky with a small telescope.

For the major experiment the scientific objectives are ambitious: not only technological demonstrations for bigger telescopes, but also original science at an already high level, especially studies of mass loss and star formation in our Galaxy and the Magellanic Clouds
